Can I Participate in My Child’s School Activities Even if I Don’t Have Custody?

In South Carolina even if you do not have custody of your child, you are still entitled to participate in your child’s school activities, such as parent-teacher conferences, plays, and sporting events. South Carolina law says that each parent, whether the custodial or noncustodial parent of the child, has the right to participate in their children’s school activities unless prohibited by order of the court. S.C. Code, Sc. 63-5-30. So, unless your family court orders some other type of order or prevents you from going to your child’s school or participating in your child’s school activities then you are definitely entitled to participate in and attend your child’s school activities.
